Born in Australia in 1962, but came to Glasgow in 1965. Trained at University of Glasgow, graduating in English Literature and History of Fine Art in 1984. Paints in a very bold, colourful manner in which form remains recognizable although secondary to the strong overall effect. Uses rich, vibrant colours in order to depict the feeling and energy of the landscape, so colour is used both descriptively and emotionally. Strong contrasts of light and shade, smooth thin paint with thick impasto, abstract with representational, organic and geometric, calm with movement.
Elected Artist Member of Paisley Art Institute in 1997.
Won MacRoberts Open Prize in 1999 and House for an Art Lover Award, Royal Glasgow Institute of the Fine Arts, 2009.
