G.I. Brodie (late 18th/early 19th century), four oval portraits, purporting to be of the same family: Nathaniel Gooding Clarke (Chief Justice of Brecon), Constance Clarke (née Stephenson - wife of Nathaniel Gooding Clarke), Rev Edward Harwood (vicar of Shenstone, Staffordshire) and Miss Farnam (wife of Rev Edward Clarke), each with attributing label on the reverse.
The handwritten attributing labels were prepared by descendant I M Murray. A further label on each painting described I M Murray as Inez M Murray (née James) daughter of Harry Berkley James and Constance Lucy James (née Clarke) who lived at The Oaks in Surrey, the Adam's house, originally built for Lord Derby. After the death of her husband Harry James, Constance Lucy James sold The Oaks in 1910.
