Died Edinburgh. Painter in oil and watercolour; landscape, topographical, genre and figurative, also an occasional portrait. Studied at Trustees Academy with McTaggart and GP Chalmers, also at the RSA School. Lived in Edinburgh, where he was a member of the Scottish Arts Club and the Pen and Pencil Club. His work was straightforward and unimaginative but at his best he painted attractive landscapes with figures incorporated harmoniously with their surroundings. Fond of harvest scenes in the Tayside area which have always remained popular. He was extremely prolific exhibiting 176 works at the RSA in addition to many others elsewhere.
